Report Annual Gaming Industry Event 2018
On Friday 2 February 2018 Kalff Katz & Franssen’s Gaming Practice group again hosted the Annual Gaming Industry Event, traditionally held at the Koninklijke Industrieele Groote Club in Amsterdam. The event was this year co-hosted with the International Masters of Gaming Law.
With over 150 attendees from all over the world, the event was a huge success. Like previous years, key industry figures, domestic as well as international land-based and remote operators, trade organisations, regulators, politicians, and government officials attended the event.
Justin Franssen started the evening by giving his special thanks to Sue Schneider for her contributions to the gaming industry, but also for her founding role in the realisation of the Annual Gaming Industry Event.
Subsequently, Jamie Nettleton (Partner at Addisons Lawyers and President of IMGL) provided information on IMGL. In addition, he addressed relevant developments on his home market Australia.
Invited speakers were Marja Appelman (CEO of the Gaming Authority) and Dennis van Breemen (Program Manager Modernisation Gaming Policy at the Ministry of Justice and Security). Marja Appelman emphasized in her speech the need to prevent participation in games of chance by minors. Dennis van Breemen gave an interesting presentation concerning the current status of the modernisation of the Dutch gaming policy on the different submarkets, including the remote gaming market, lotteries, gaming machines, and the casino market.
A comprehensive report on the event can be found on the website of Gaming in Holland.
